Solar Power - Govt of India Initiative

  1. Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM): PM-KUSUM is a flagship program launched by the Government of India to support the installation of solar power plants by farmers and small businesses. The scheme provides financial and water-saving benefits to farmers and helps in the decentralized production of solar power. It includes components like installation of grid-connected solar power plants, standalone solar-powered agricultural pumps, and solarization of existing grid-connected agricultural pumps.

  2. Rooftop Solar Power Scheme: The Government of India has been promoting rooftop solar installations through various initiatives. Under this scheme, financial assistance, subsidies, and incentives are provided to small businesses, residential complexes, and institutions to install rooftop solar panels. This initiative encourages small businesses to generate their own solar power, reducing their dependence on the grid and lowering electricity costs.

  3. Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) Schemes: SECI, under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, implements various schemes and programs to promote solar energy adoption in the country. SECI conducts auctions for solar projects, including those under the small-scale solar category. These auctions provide opportunities for small businesses to participate in solar power generation projects. Additionally, SECI offers support for research and development, capacity building, and skill development in the solar energy sector, benefiting small businesses involved in the solar power industry.

These initiatives demonstrate the Indian government's commitment to fostering the growth of small businesses in the solar power generation sector while advancing renewable energy adoption across the country. For the most current information, it's advisable to check the latest government announcements and policies.
